The Weaver Beavers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Academy of Science and Innovation Ravens at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Weaver has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 563 points over their last seven contests.
Weaver pushed their score all the way to 67 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The matchup between Weaver and Conard wasn't particularly close, with Weaver falling 82-67. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Weaver has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Weaver had strong showings from Shaheim Wilson, who scored 16 points, and Madden Cupe, who scored 20 points. Cupe is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Ja'kai Perry was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Meanwhile, Academy of Science and Innovation entered their tilt with Sports & Medical Sciences Academy with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. In a tight match that could have gone either way, Academy of Science and Innovation made off with a 61-60 win over Sports & Medical Sciences Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
It was another big night for Jamal Kulaib, who scored 25 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Amari Cruz, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Weaver's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-1. As for Academy of Science and Innovation, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's game: Weaver have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having averaged 9.1 threes per game. It's a different story for Academy of Science and Innovation, though, as they've been averaging only 5.5 threes per game. Given Weaver's sizeable advantage in that area, Academy of Science and Innovation will need to find a way to close that gap.
Weaver beat Academy of Science and Innovation 52-45 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Does Weaver have another victory up their sleeve, or will Academy of Science and Innovation turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
