The Lynn Bears will take on the Dora Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lynn will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
Lynn is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Marion County 17-1 on Saturday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Ashton Hopkins made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hopkins was even better at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Lynn got a massive performance out of Austin Dodd, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Julian Scott was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1.
Lynn always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .778. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Dora lost 11-3 to Sumiton Christian on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.
Dora saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Thompson, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Cooper Martin also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Lynn's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs over those games. As for Dora, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Dora's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lynn hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having hit 0 of their hits per game. It's a different story for Dora, though, as they've only hit 0 of their hits this season. Will they be able to contain Lynn's hitters?
Lynn took their victory against Dora in their previous meeting last Saturday by a conclusive 14-4. Does Lynn have another victory up their sleeve, or will Dora turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
