With a playoff game on the line, Hamilton rose to the challenge on Friday. They secured a 32-28 W over Sebastopol.
Justin Verner continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 233 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per carry, and also throwing for 19 yards and a touchdown. Verner was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 66 yards. Trent Jones and his 115 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Hamilton's victory.
Meanwhile, Charleston put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Friday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 44-14 victory over Philadelphia. With Charleston ahead 28-8 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Marcus Flowers jr went supernova for Charleston, rushing for 155 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries.
Hamilton has yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 7-5 record. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.0 points per game. As for Charleston, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 10-2.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Hamilton has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 273.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Charleston struggles in that department as they've been averaging 206.8 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
