Even though Rutland has not done well against Northeast recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Rutland came out on top in a nail-biter against Northeast and snuck past 53-51. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Rutland has posted yet this season.
Rutland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Michael Simmons, who scored 16 points. Simmons continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Elijah Brooks was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Central suffered their biggest loss since December 15, 2023 on Friday. Their tough 78-58 defeat to Southwest might stick with them for a while. Rutland's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.
