The Longmont Trojans will head out on the road to take on the Legacy Lightning at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Longmont's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Legacy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Last Thursday, Longmont came up short against Silver Creek and fell 7-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Trojans in their meetings with the Raptors: they've now lost three in a row.
Longmont got a good showing from Bryce Smaic, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, Smaic didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Longmont saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mac Paddock, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Legacy entered their tilt with Horizon on Thursday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 12-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Lightning, who have now won six games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Braidon Brown made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Brown was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with four RBI and one double.
In other pitching news, Soren Monzyk looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits.
Back at the plate, Jason Olsen was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Legacy is undefeated when Olsen posts two or more runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Ethan Sanchez was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.
Legacy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Horizon only managed five hits.
Legacy's record is now 6-4. As for Longmont, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.
