Saks (Anniston, Ala.) captured the lead in the fourth quarter and held on for a 20-13 victory over
Weaver (Ala.) on Saturday. The Wildcats captured the lead for good when
Timothy Johnson thew a touchdown to
Tremon Smith.
The Wildcats led 13-0 at halftime, but the Bearcats recaptured the lead on a touchdown pass by
Timothy Hawkins with 4:00 left in the third. Saks grabbed hold of the lead when Johnson thew a touchdown to Smith with 2:00 to go in the fourth quarter, and never relinquished it.
With the win SHS extended its winning streak to six games. The Anniston school defeated the Yellowjackets 35-21 last week.
Johnson stood out for the Wildcats in the win. He threw two touchdowns.
Hawkins made a difference for Weaver. The junior quarterback threw two touchdowns.
Saks had given up an average of 14.0 points prior to the contest.
SHS got revenge for last year's 29-19 loss to WHS with the victory.
Saks (6-1) goes up against Piedmont in a 3A Region 5 game matchup next week, while Weaver (4-4) locks horns with Ashville also in a 3A Region 5 game.
