Softball Recap: Beaufort Has No Trouble Against Bluffton

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Darlington, Beaufort was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the Bluffton Bobcats 15-5. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Adalyn Johnson was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 20 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Arianna Smith was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Caylin Adkins, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Beaufort hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 6-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Beaufort has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Bluffton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-10.

Coming up, Beaufort is taking a road trip to square off against Darlington at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season. Bluffton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
