Eagle Valley has gone a perfect 6-0 against Aspen recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Devils will square off against the Skiers at 3:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a six-game winning streak alive.
The home team had won the previous six meetings between Eagle Valley and Steamboat Springs, and Eagle Valley kept the tradition alive. The Devils were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Sailors last Wednesday. 13 seems to be a good number for the Devils as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Eagle Valley got a massive performance out of Xander DeHerrera, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs DeHerrera has posted since back in March. Ricardo Gutierrez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Eagle Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Aspen never let their opponents score on Friday. Everything went their way against Moffat County as they made off with a 12-0 victory. The Skiers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by ten runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Thor Raarup, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Mika, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Eagle Valley's record now sits at 10-2. As for Aspen, their record is now 13-2.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Eagle Valley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .393. However, it's not like Aspen struggles in that department as they've averaged .322. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Eagle Valley beat Aspen 11-7 when the teams last played back in April of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
