The St. Francis Knights''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 57-26 loss at the hands of Mount Vernon. St. Francis was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mount Vernon apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.
Mack Town rushed for 13 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 171 yards and a touchdown. Taurean Rawlins was his top target, picking up 103 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Walker Warshaw was his usual excellent self, rushing for 257 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 14.3 yards per carry. Warshaw is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Sam Nazarian, who threw for 134 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.
St. Francis' loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-2 Providence Christian Academy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 62.5% over those games). As for Mount Vernon, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
St. Francis will head out on the road to face off against Trion at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Trion will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line. As for Mount Vernon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pepperell at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Tyler Rogers and Warshaw.
