Hardin is 0-7 against Buna since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Hardin Hornets will be playing at home against the Buna Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Hardin is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
Hardin fell victim to East Chambers' stalwart defense last Thursday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 35-0 defeat at the hands of the Buccaneers. While losing is never fun, Hardin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 887th, while East Chambers is ranked 385th).
Buna fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 28-25 win over Tarkington on Friday.
Buna can attribute much of their success to Jacob Johnson, who rushed for 145 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. Johnson was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 55 yards.
Hardin's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 2.0 points per game. As for Buna, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Hardin was taken down by Buna 41-8 when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Will Hardin have more luck at home instead of on the road?
