The Wasco Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 57-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Delano. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Wasco of the 64-54 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Wasco lost, one person who can't be blamed is Rudy Ballardo. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points. Elijah Lopez was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Ibrahim Shuwait was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds for Delano. Shuwait is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 11 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jotham Amodo, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Wasco has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for Delano, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-6.
Wasco will head out on the road to take on Taft at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Taft has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 543 points over their last eight matches. As for Delano, they will be playing in front of their home fans against McFarland at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. McFarland will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
