The Sahuarita Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 51-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Amphitheater. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Sahuarita in their matchups with Amphitheater: they've now lost three in a row.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Daniel Durazo, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Alejandro Vega, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Sahuarita's loss dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Amphitheater, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
Sahuarita will be playing at home against Rio Rico at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rio Rico is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Amphitheater, they will head out on the road to square off against Walden Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Walden Grove's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten contests.
