Two dominant signal callers in Quinten Myers and Sloan Pelican are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Anselmo-Merna Coyotes will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Johnson-Brock Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on October 27th. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Anselmo-Merna beat Boyd County 30-24. The victory was just what Anselmo-Merna needed coming off of a 56-6 defeat in their prior match.
Among those leading the charge was Myers, who rushed for 73 yards and three touchdowns. Another big playmaker for Anselmo-Merna was Josiah Griffith, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Johnson-Brock put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Winside 58-0 at home. Fans of Johnson-Brock have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Johnson-Brock's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hayden Gravatt, who rushed for 95 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Gravatt was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 55 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Pelican, who threw for 160 yards and four touchdowns on only 11 passes.
Anselmo-Merna now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Johnson-Brock, their victory was their ninth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-0.
