The Mountlake Terrace Hawks will venture away from home to face off against the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Mountlake Terrace's win against Lynnwood wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Mountlake Terrace skirted past Lynnwood 2-1. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Royals recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Mountlake Terrace got a great performance from Layton Rongholt as he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. The dominant performance also gave Rongholt a new career-high in strikeouts (three).
At the plate, Mountlake Terrace saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Owen Meek, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Edmonds-Woodway gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Meadowdale as Edmonds-Woodway made off with a 13-3 win. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by ten runs or more this season.
Finn Crawford spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits.
On the hitting side, Erik Alsdorf was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Toshi Gilginas was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
Edmonds-Woodway was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Meadowdale only posted a batting average of .286.
The victory made it two in a row for Edmonds-Woodway and bumps their season record up to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Mountlake Terrace, their record is now 2-3.
Mountlake Terrace took their victory against Edmonds-Woodway when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 9-3. Does Mountlake Terrace have another victory up their sleeve, or will Edmonds-Woodway turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
