If the Alden-Conger Knights were riding high off their 75-51 takedown of the Martin County West Mavericks last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Alden-Conger fell just short of Mabel-Canton by a score of 60-57. It was the first time this season that Alden-Conger let down their fans at home.
Leading Mabel-Canton to victory were Cayden Tollefsrud and Isaac Underbakke. Tollefsrud scored 23 points along with seven rebounds, while Underbakke shot 4-for-8 from deep and dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Tollefsrud has scored at least 25% of Mabel-Canton's points. Darian Hershberger was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Alden-Conger's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-5. As for Mabel-Canton, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Alden-Conger will take on Triton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Triton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Alden-Conger likes a good challenge. As for Mabel-Canton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lanesboro at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Lanesboro is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
