The Fairview Yellowjackets will face off against the Montgomery Central Indians at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Fairview will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Hickman County on Friday. Fairview blew past Hickman County 17-2. Considering the Yellowjackets' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Maddie McGowan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. McGowan was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 3-for-3. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Allie Penning, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two doubles. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Abbie Hammon, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, Montgomery Central got the win against Jo Byrns on Monday by a conclusive 10-1. The victory continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now won four in a row.
Addison Jackson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ella Harp was incredible, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Ellie Arrington was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Montgomery Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Montgomery Central's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Fairview, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Montgomery Central's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fairview hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .376. It's a different story for Montgomery Central, though, as they've only averaged .228. Will they be able to contain Fairview's hitters?
