The Forsyth Panthers will take on the Reeds Spring Wolves at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Forsyth turned things around against Blue Eye on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Bulldogs.
Lauren Turner made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Turner was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Forsyth got a massive performance out of Zoe White, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI White has posted over her last nine matches. Another player making a difference was Lili Roberts, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Forsyth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Reeds Spring was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-11 heartbreaker at the hands of Galena.
Chloe Clevenger made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinzey Skidmore, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs and one double.
Forsyth's victory bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Reeds Spring, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Forsyth has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .453. However, it's not like Reeds Spring struggles in that department as they've averaged .451. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Forsyth beat Reeds Spring 11-6 when the teams last played last Saturday. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
