Lincoln North Star is 1-9 against the Spartans since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The two teams will face off at 5:45 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Lincoln North Star will be strutting in after a win while the Spartans will be coming in after a loss.
Lincoln North Star can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent contest on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Burke 68-27 on the road. Given Lincoln North Star's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 194th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lincoln North Star's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ani Leu, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine assists. It was the first time this season that Leu posted eight or more assists. Kendall Anderson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven steals.
Meanwhile, Lincoln East unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They received a tough blow as they fell 46-32 to Papillion-LaVista South. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lincoln East has scored all season.
Lincoln North Star is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. As for Lincoln East, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.
Lincoln North Star came out on top in a nail-biter against the Spartans in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, sneaking past 43-40. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Lincoln East's Kaylee Denker, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Now that she won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for Lincoln North Star to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
