Northeast Jones has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Bay Springs Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Northeast Jones focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, things could have been worse for Northeast Jones, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 54-35 loss to Laurel. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Northeast Jones in their matchups with Laurel: they've now lost nine in a row.
The match pitted two key players against one another: Erin Jefferson and Kayllis Walker. Walker had a great game and dropped a double-double on 17 points and 10 rebounds. Meanwhile, Jefferson was balling out in the loss, scoring 17 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
Meanwhile, Bay Springs didn't have too much trouble with Taylorsville on the road on Thursday as they won 61-42. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Bay Springs.
Northeast Jones' loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 6-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.6 points per game. As for Bay Springs, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
Northeast Jones and Bay Springs were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in November of 2021, but Northeast Jones came up empty-handed after a 49-48 loss. Can Northeast Jones avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
