Basketball Recap: Bowman Academy Comes Up Short

Bowman Academy lost against Hammond Morton back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Bowman Academy Eagles were outmatched by the Hammond Morton Governors and fell 87-31. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 303rd, while the Governors are ranked 44th).

Kahlen Robinson and Janiyah Jackson certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Robinson posted 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Jackson put up ten points. Robinson has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 25 times she's played.

Hammond Morton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kylah KP Patterson, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Chanteze Holland, who earned 27 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Bowman Academy and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Hammond Morton, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1.

Bowman Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 65-33 loss against Hammond Central on the 6th. As for Hammond Morton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-16 victory against Portage on the 10th.
