Poudre has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. The Poudre Impalas and the Boulder Panthers will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Poudre will be strutting in after a victory while Boulder will be coming in after a defeat.
On Wednesday, Poudre strolled past Fairview with points to spare, taking the game 58-41.
Poudre's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaqueline Forrest, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Maggie Foster, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Boulder's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 48-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Legacy. Boulder has not had much luck with Legacy recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Gaby Mccollester, who scored six points along with 14 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Oder, who scored ten points.
Poudre pushed their record up to 9-7 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Boulder, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
Friday's matchup is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Poudre have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Boulder struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.5 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for Poudre against Boulder when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 50-16 win. With Poudre ahead 28-7 at the half, the game was all but over already.
