Roxboro Community has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Henderson Collegiate Pride at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Roxboro Community will be strutting in after a win while Henderson Collegiate will be coming in after a loss.
Roxboro Community put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 53-3 victory over Excelsior Classical Academy at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-3.
Roxboro Community can attribute much of their success to Karrie Obie, who scored 21 points along with three steals, and Katherine-kaey "katie" Mann, who scored 20 points along with eight steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mann has scored at least a third of Roxboro Community's points. Robin Puryear was another key contributor, scoring six points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Henderson Collegiate, who are still winless after their fourth match. They took a serious blow against Eno River on January 5th, falling 60-3.
Roxboro Community now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Henderson Collegiate, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
Roxboro Community came out on top in a nail-biter against Henderson Collegiate in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, sneaking past 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Roxboro Community since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
