If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Sayreville. They looks to establish their home field advantage on Friday as they take on New Brunswick at 7:00 PM. Sayreville will be hoping to build upon the 46-14 win they picked up against New Brunswick the last time they played.
The struggle was real when Sayreville and Woodbridge clashed last week, but Sayreville ultimately edged out the opposition 21-19. Junior Mark Whitford, who picked up 65 yards on the ground and accumulated 187 passing yards, was a major factor in Sayreville's success. Near the top of the highlight reel was Whitford's 65-yard TD bomb to Jacari Carter in the first quarter.
Meanwhile, New Brunswick took their match against Monroe Township by a conclusive 47-14 score.
Their wins bumped New Brunswick to 1-1 and Sayreville to 2-0. The Sayreville defense got after the quarterback against Woodbridge to the tune of 4 sacks, so New Brunswick's offensive line better have put in some good practice this past week in preparation for the game.
