Basketball Recap: Cassopolis Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Cassopolis's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Comstock on Tuesday. The Cassopolis Rangers walked away with a 60-52 victory over the Marcellus Wildcats. The Rangers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wildcats, too.

Cassopolis' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lucas Williams, who posted 18 points along with six assists and six steals. Williams' evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Jaylen Pratt was another key player, putting up 22 points and six boards.

Williams wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Cassopolis was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marcellus only posted ten assists.

Marcellus' loss came despite strong showings from Jamarion Robinson and Parker Adams. Robinson went 6 of 13 on his way to 18 points and eight boards, while Adams dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave Adams a new career-high in assists (six). Another player making a difference was Abram Coffey, who had 13 points.

Cassopolis pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.6 points per game. As for Marcellus, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cassopolis will take on Hartford at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cassopolis is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.7 points per game this season. As for Marcellus, they will head out to face off against Bangor at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Marcellus also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 53.2 points per game.
