The Taylor Wildcats will venture away from home to challenge the Trinity Catholic Celtics at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Taylor is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.2 runs per game this season.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Taylor and Atlantic had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Wildcats blew past the Sharks 18-2 on Tuesday. The Wildcats have beaten the Sharks the last nine times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Sharks has come to flipping the script.
Savannah Pearson made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Taylor got a massive performance out of Caydence Hassell, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and three RBI. Those four hits gave Hassell a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Miller, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Taylor hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 6-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Trinity Catholic had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Crusaders by a score of 5-1. That's two games straight that the Celtics have won by exactly four runs.
Caylee Barbe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 16 Ks.
On the hitting side, Trinity Catholic let Hailey Wilson and Emma Simms run wild. Wilson went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Simms scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.
Trinity Catholic's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-6. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Taylor, their record now sits at 9-6.
Both Taylor and Trinity Catholic just can't seem to miss. The Wildcats have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Trinity Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Taylor might still be hurting after the 9-3 defeat they got from Trinity Catholic in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
