Milford is on a four-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Altamont is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Tigers will face off against the Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Milford took their game with ease, bagging a 35-6 victory over Parowan. The Tigers pushed the score to 28-6 by the end of the third, a deficit the Rams had little chance of recovering from.

Kyzler Merryweather
09/19/25 @ Parowan | 103 |
08/29/25 @ Enterprise | 86 |
09/20/24 @ Parowan | 82 |
09/05/25 vs Gunnison Valley | 81 |
08/15/25 vs Panguitch | 65 |
Kyzler Merryweather produced another solid effort rushing for 103 yards and three scores, while also picking up 44 receiving yards. Those 103 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Tayon Blackburn also deserves some recognition as he punched in his first rushing touchdown of the season.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Milford was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 206 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Parowan only rushed for 88.
Milford didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Boston Sullivan and Merryweather. Trendon Thompson was another major factor on D, picking up 0.5 sacks, forcing one fumble, and making eight total tackles (1.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Altamont). They simply couldn't be stopped last Thursday as they easily beat Utah Military Academy - Hill Field 68-36.
Milford better keep an eye on Logan Nelson. He was instrumental in Altamont's win, rushing for 73 yards, while also picking up 48 receiving yards.
Milford's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Altamont, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
Friday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Merryweather and Nelson. Merryweather just won't slow down this season and has run in 8 touchdowns while averaging 70.7 rushing yards per game. Nelson has been a dominant force too and has averaged 46.7 rushing yards per game.
Everything came up roses for Milford against Altamont in their previous matchup back in September of 2018, as the team secured a 41-6 win. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Longhorns turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
