Fike is 0-4 against West Johnston since January of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Fike Demons will be playing at home against the West Johnston Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Fike and three for West Johnston.
Last Friday, Fike came up short against Beddingfield and fell 61-54. While losing is never fun, Fike can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 563rd, while Beddingfield is ranked 162nd).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from William Monk, who scored 18 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds. The game was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Skinner, who scored 10 points.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for West Johnston, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 61-44 loss to Cleveland on Friday.
West Johnston's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kameron Taylor, who scored 13 points along with 7 rebounds, and Dionta'e Williams who scored 7 points along with 3 steals. Taylor scored a full 29.5% of West Johnston's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was William Moore, who scored 7 points.
Fike's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for West Johnston, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the pair are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Fike hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 57.8 points per game. However, it's not like West Johnston struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 58.3 per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run up the score up higher Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
