The Warwick Wildcats will face off against the Minisink Valley Warriors at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
While Warwick's victory against Washingtonville wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wildcats skirted past the Wizards 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since April 24, 2024.
Ryan Yioupis was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. He also put up a hit, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Tristan Sasse, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Minisink Valley ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over Valley Central. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Christopher McCauley made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. McCauley was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dylan Acevedo, who scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Minisink Valley's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Warwick, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
Warwick might still be hurting after the 8-1 defeat they got from Minisink Valley in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Wildcats have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
