The Litchfield Purple Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their tenth straight defeat. They took a 47-29 bruising from Carlinville. While losing is never fun, Litchfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 602nd, while Carlinville is ranked 184th).
Litchfield's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Emma Diveley, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds, and Chloe Law who scored ten points along with three steals.
Litchfield has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 16 of their last 17 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-25 record this season. As for Carlinville, they are on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 22 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 23-7 record this season.
Litchfield will head out on the road to face off against Auburn at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Litchfield is coming into the matchup with 13 straight defeats on the road, meaning Auburn will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. Carlinville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
