Baseball Recap: Christ's Church Academy Triumphs

It was close, but on Tuesday the Christ's Church Academy Eagles sidestepped the Nease Panthers for a 2-1 win.

Josh Stembridge looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Christ's Church Academy's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Shawn Robinson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Christ's Church Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Nease, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-13.

Coming up, Christ's Church Academy will take on Ponte Vedra at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Sharks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Nease, they will challenge Bartram Trail at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
