Alchesay extended their losing streak to 11 on Friday, dropping them down to 4-18-2. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 15-13 heartbreaker at the hands of the Blue Ridge Yellow Jackets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Yellow Jackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-3 back in March.
Danil Joe made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Madison Cosay, who went 3-for-5 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI.
As for Blue Ridge, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted against Alchesay since April 30, 2021.
On Blue Ridge's side, Shandiin Caddo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and 12 unearned) runs on nine hits.
At the plate, Blue Ridge let Bailey Barton and Xyomara Navarro run wild. Barton went 3-for-4 with four runs, five RBI, and two doubles, while Navarro went a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, three doubles, and one stolen base. Those three doubles gave Navarro a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Finch, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Looking ahead, Alchesay will host Holbrook at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Roadrunners have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. Blue Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
