After flying high against The Pinnacle Timberwolves back in December of 2023, the Stargate School Eagles came back down to earth. Stargate School fell 46-39 to Forge Christian on Thursday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Stargate School in their matchups with Forge Christian: they've now lost eight in a row.
Despite the loss, Stargate School still got an impressive performance from Hunter Roark, who scored 12 points along with four steals. The game was Roark's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Rusch, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Forge Christian found their leader in underclassman Levi Clark, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds. Those nine rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Peyton Miller, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Stargate School's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-2. As for Forge Christian, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1.
Stargate School will head out on the road to face off against Regis Groff at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Regis Groff focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 back in December of 2023. Forge Christian won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Addenbrooke Classical Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th. Addenbrooke Classical Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 219th, while Forge Christian is ranked 24th).
