Kayla Gilmore and Shy Hawkins were among the main playmakers for William Floyd as the former scored 17 points along with six rebounds and four steals and the latter scored 13 points along with nine blocks and six rebounds. Gilmore is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kayden Meyer, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Riverhead's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their 17th straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 65-27 loss at the hands of Walt Whitman. Riverhead was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-8.
William Floyd pushed their record up to 12-1 with that victory, which was their 16th straight at home. As for Riverhead, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
Everything came up roses for William Floyd against Riverhead in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 58-23 win.
