With a playoff win on the line, Gaston Christian rose to the challenge on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Greensboro Day School Bengals as they made off with a 9-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won nine contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Cooper Summerlin tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April.

At the plate, Gaston Christian saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Davis, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Another was Meridian Leffew, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Gaston Christian's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Greensboro Day School, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season.
