Mid-State 38 - Watchung recap Oct. 23, 2012
Ridge extended the longest winning streak in Mid-State 38 - Watchung this week by beating Cranford, 35-21. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
Ridge was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping the Cougars. The Red Devils came in at 19 in the state poll after placing at number 27 last week.
Conor Hughes put up the best numbers through the air as Ridge topped Cranford. He finished with 10 completions for 227 yards and two touchdowns. Hughes' favorite target this week was Nick Franzese, who caught four passes for 81 yards.
TOMMY GIAIMO was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 156 yards on 19 carries as Watchung Hills Regional fell to Hillsborough. ANTHONY PRUS also contributed to the rushing game with 47 yards on the ground.
Oltmans was the best wideout in the league this week as the Cougars fell to the Raiders. Oltmans racked up three receptions for 82 yards. Zach Slotkin helped Montgomery's passing attack out by catching two balls for 43 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback Hughes of the Red Devils is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1077. He has also thrown 14 touchdowns. On the ground, the Warriors' PRUS has rushed for 1096 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Oltmans. The Montgomery star has 35 catches for 505 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Watchung Hills Regional takes on Linden. At the moment, the Warriors are in third, while the Tigers are in sixth.
