After two games on the road, Northwood is heading back home. They will take on the Beckman Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Northwood has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 420 points over their last six games.
While it was all tied up 33-33 at halftime, Northwood was not quite Sage Hill's equal in the second half on Tuesday. Northwood fell 68-60 to Sage Hill. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Northwood came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while Sage Hill is ranked 465th).
Zaid Yunis put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 30 points. That was a full 50% of Northwood's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Abaye, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Beckman unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 56-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Irvine.
Northwood's defeat ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 16-6. As for Beckman, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-10.
Northwood skirted past Beckman 62-59 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Will Northwood repeat their success, or does Beckman have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
