Wiscasset hasn't had much luck against Carrabec recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Wolverines will head out to challenge the Cobras at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Tuesday, Wiscasset got the win against Valley by a conclusive 33-13. Considering the Wolverines' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Carrabec). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Temple Academy a 30-0 shutout on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Cobras, who have now won five games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Jillian Robinson made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Robinson was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Aiyana Tibbetts was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with four runs, two triples, and five RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one triple the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Josephine Scheve, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, five RBI, and two doubles.
Carrabec always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Temple Academy only posted an OBP of .455.
Wiscasset's record now sits at 3-7. As for Carrabec, their record is now 7-1.
Wiscasset might still be hurting after the 14-2 loss they got from Carrabec when the teams last played back in May of 2019. Can the Wolverines avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
