Hertford County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ayden Everette, who rushed for 116 yards and one TD. The Bears are 4-1 when Everette posts 80 or more rushing yards, but 1-4 otherwise. Justin Bunch helped out on the ground, rushing for 90 yards.
As for Martin County, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.4 points on average over those games.
It was another big night for Jordan Matthewson, who rushed for 102 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries, and also picked up 35 receiving yards and a pair of scores. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 52 yards.
