The Bosque Bobcats scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Tucumcari 90-40 at home. Bosque has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 24 points or more this season.
Bosque had a senior duo take command as Cooper Hautau dropped a triple-double on 15 points, 11 rebounds, and ten assists and Kyle Morris scored 23 points. It was the first time this season that Hautau posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Kruft, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Despite the loss, Tucumcari saw an underclassman step up: Kamren Apodaca dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Apodaca hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for five straight games. Luis Archuleta was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
The victory (which was Bosque's fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.8 points per game. As for Tucumcari, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bosque will take on the Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cuba is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. As for Tucumcari, they will head out on the road to challenge the Demons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in New Mexico (Dexter is ranked 112th, while the Rattlers are ranked 99th).
