11 must be Merrill's lucky number: they beat La Crosse Logan with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Bluejays' pitcher stepped up to hand the Rangers an 11-0 shutout. With that victory, the Bluejays brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Mackenzie Herdt made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 18 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Miley Krueger, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one double. That double was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Abbie Krueger, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI.

Merrill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 3.8 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.8.

The win made it two in a row for Merrill and bumps their season record up to 5-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for La Crosse Logan, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.

Looking ahead, Merrill will head out on the road to take on Shawano Community at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Hawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.67 runs per game on average), something the Bluejays will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for La Crosse Logan, they will challenge Portage at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Rangers' pitcher better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
