The Elba Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Florala Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
On Friday, Elba didn't have quite enough to beat Pleasant Home and fell 10-8.
Easton McKelvy and Powell Bane put in work while hitting and pitching. Throwing, McKelvy struck out six batters over two innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Bane pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, McKelvy scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-4, while Bane scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases McKelvy has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, Brady Johnson was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two).
Meanwhile, Florala hadn't done well against Samson recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Florala never let Samson get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.
Like Elba, Florala also got a great game from a pair of two-way players: Kennith Dalton Jackson. On the mound, Jackson tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Noah Bryan struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). That's the fewest hits Jackson has allowed since back in April of 2024. At bat, Jackson went 2-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI, while Bryan scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Ayden Brooks was incredible, going 3-for-4 with six RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Laura, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Florala's record is now 2-0. As for Elba, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Elba came up short against Florala in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, falling 8-4. Can Elba avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
