On Friday, The Mohave Accelerated Patriots faced the Baboquivari Warriors in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Mohave Accelerated secured a 28-22 W over Baboquivari. The win made it back-to-back wins for Mohave Accelerated.
Mohave Accelerated got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Gerald Keltner out in front who threw for 245 yards and three touchdowns. Keltner was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 61 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Honegger, who picked up 125 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Defeat or not, Baboquivari got some senior leadership from Eli Pablo who rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries and Xavier Mease who rushed for 158 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries.
Even if they lost, Baboquivari's defense still kept up the pressure with five sacks. Leading the way was Mease and his three sacks.
Mohave Accelerated's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Baboquivari, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
Mohave Accelerated will face off against Bagdad at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bagdad will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. Baboquivari does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
