It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Axtell Wildcats can now relate to. They were beaten by St. Francis 42-8 on Friday. Axtell's loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
Leading St. Francis to victory were Ethan Wieseler and Carson Wessel. Wieseler rushed for 112 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, while Wessel rushed for 88 yards and three touchdowns. Wessel has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played.
Axtell's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for St. Francis, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2.
Axtell does not have any more games scheduled as of now. St. Francis will head out on the road to face off against Wynot at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Wynot is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
