Gilroy took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Live Oak, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Mustangs came out on top in a nail-biter against the Acorns on Thursday, sneaking past 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mustangs have posted against the Acorns since March 1, 2019.

The team relied heavily on Brennan Neander, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Passama, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Gilroy's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-15. As for Live Oak, they dropped their record down to 9-12 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
