Softball Recap: South Pontotoc Wins Going Away Against Senatobia

After losing to Senatobia the last time they met, South Pontotoc decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The South Pontotoc Cougars blew past the Senatobia Warriors 9-2 on Thursday.

Sammy Terry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, South Pontotoc let Macy Bain and Preslee Austin run wild. Bain scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Austin went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Austin hit this season. Blakelee Dollins was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

South Pontotoc has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. Senatobia's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-4.

Coming up, South Pontotoc is taking a road trip to face off against Choctaw County at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. South Pontotoc is facing Choctaw County at the right time seeing as Choctaw County is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Senatobia, they will be playing at home against Marion at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
