Softball Recap: Girard Wins Going Away Against Chippewa

Girard got themselves on the board against Chippewa on Wednesday, but Chippewa never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Chipps with a sharp 14-0 victory. Considering the Indians have won ten matches by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Chloe Plant was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

In other batting news, Gianna Saxon was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Caylee Wilkes was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Girard was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. They are 8-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win got Girard back to even at 12-12. As for Chippewa, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Girard will head out to challenge Liberty at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Chippewa, they will venture away from home to take on South Central at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
