After two games on the road, Wendover is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Wells Leopards at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Wells took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Wendover, who comes in off a win.
Wendover has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 20 points or more this season. They took their contest on the road on Saturday with ease, bagging a 54-20 victory over Tintic. Given Wendover's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while Tintic is ranked 123rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wendover found their leader in underclassman Millie Hicks, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 18 rebounds. The matchup was Hicks' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Paulina Gomez, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Wells' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 44-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pahranagat Valley.
Wendover's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Wells, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-4.
Everything came up roses for Wendover against Wells in their previous meeting back in February as the squad secured a 45-17 victory. Will Wendover repeat their success, or does Wells have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
