III Section III recap October 29, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in III Section III this week, Saguaro beat Higley 55-28. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Queen Creek took down Apache Junction 57-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Ricky Bradley made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Knights fell to Saguaro. The 6-foot-0 player racked up 1 sack.
Luke Rubenzer threw for 357 yards and 3 touchdowns. He went 15-17 with 0 interceptions.
Esteban Arteaga was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 172 yards on 10 carries as McClintock beat Higley. Teammate Dominic Orona added to the ground attack by rushing for 91 yards.
The Sabercats' Rubenzer and J.T. Nettleton led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-0 quarterback Rubenzer has thrown for 2,522 yards this season, while Nettleton has 36 catches for 968 yards. The Bulldogs' Weston Barlow leads the league in rushing yards with 1,142.
Saguaro's Nettleton needs only 32 receiving yards against Marcos de Niza to crack 1,000 for the season. So far this year, he has acheived 36 catches for 968 yards.
A big matchup in III Section III this week will be when Eddy Zubey's team takes on Williams Field. The Knights are in fourth place, while the Black Hawks are in first place.
The Chargers made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,396 from 6,045. The improvement was the result of a 49-3 victory over South Mountain last week.
