The Meadville Bulldogs will venture away from home to face off against the Harbor Creek Huskies at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Meadville's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over Varsity Opponent. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.
Lila Kightlinger was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI.

Harbor Creek came out on top against Warren on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run first inning. The Huskies put the hurt on the Dragons with a sharp 14-0 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Huskies, who have now won nine games in a row.
Like Meadville, Harbor Creek also got a great game from a two-way player: Talon King. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. King was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooklynn Cipalla, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Brooke Przybylski was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Harbor Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .429 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meadville's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Harbor Creek, their record now sits at 12-4.
Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Meadville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .336. However, it's not like Harbor Creek struggles in that department as they've averaged .412. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Meadville might still be hurting after the 12-2 loss they got from Harbor Creek when the teams last played back in April. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
