Clopton has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the North Callaway Thunderbirds at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Clopton will be strutting in after a victory while North Callaway will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Thursday, Clopton strolled past Silex with points to spare, taking the game 53-36. Given Clopton's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while Silex is ranked 307th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Clopton relied on the efforts of Skylar Parker, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and five steals, and Braya Smith, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Campbell Lindsay, who scored three points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, North Callaway unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They received a tough blow as they fell 61-45 to Montgomery County.
The losing side was boosted by Natalie Shryock, who scored 26 points. Riley Blevins was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Clopton has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for North Callaway, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.
Thursday's match is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Clopton have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 44.6% of their threes per game. It's a different story for North Callaway, though, as they've only drained 36.1% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Clopton came up short against North Callaway in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 45-41. Can Clopton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
